Hey Stan,
Research is one of the most important things that even the most experienced Internet marketers tend to put aside when creating campaigns. Everyone wants to earn a big buck...and do it quickly. However, without market research, there is little chance that a campaign will turn a profit.
Want to know a great way to find out how to research markets and industries without having to spend a lot of time and energy? The first thing you should do is find out where your consumers are, what they are thinking, and where they are talking. A great place to do this is within focus groups and online discussion forums.
Here are a few good places to find focus groups:
(1) Yahoo Groups (http://groups.yahoo.com/)
(2) Google Groups (http://groups.google.com/)
(3) MSN Groups (http://groups.msn.com)
(4) AOL Groups (http://groups.aol.com)
And here are some great places to find forums:
(1) BoardReader.com
(2) iVillage.com
(3) ForumFind.com
(4) BoardTracker.com
These communities produce great discussions on everything from the hottest products, to determining what the next best thing is going to be. You can easily gather industry critical data and find out who your customers are and what they are buying before setting up your campaigns. These are also great places to dig down and find sub-niches within industries that you might not have thought of otherwise.
This is just one of the many ways you can research online, and is definitely one you should add to your marketing repertoire. We thought we would just let you in on this little tip, but it is not included within Who Loves Money. We have jam packed some of the greatest research tips and methods inside the book. We even release the exact industry in which we earned $60/minute and tell you how we did it, keywords and all! Whoever said that market research wasn't worth it!
